Manokhi for Vogue Italia: Bucharest Fashion Week kicks off

One year ago, the global fashion landscape got a new player, the Bucharest Fashion Week. Romania’s capital city has positioned itself as a fashion-enthusiast’s staple, by uniting its forces with the powerful Camera Nazionale della Moda. But MBBFW only found its true success with the help of Manokhi

Editorial influence

Even though Bucharest Fashion Week has existed for a while, prior to the rebrand, it used to be mostly an in-house celebration of Romanian designers. After starting the collaboration with Camera Nazionale della Moda, MBBFW started gaining traction and attracting the attention of international power houses as well.

First, the trust came from Vogue Italia, that sent their Beauty Editor and New Gen Specialist, Irene Coltrinari, to report on last year’s Fashion Week. That is the first link of the editorial tie between MBBFW and its success. The turning point, though, was the magazine cover Chiara Ferragni did for ELLE Romania, in a full Manokhi look. This established the brand’s influence on the local fashion scene and kicked off the start of a beautiful partnership between the brand and editorial world.

Manokhi x ELLE Romania

In March this year, following the success of the cover for ELLE, Manokhi and the magazine celebrated Bucharest Fashion Week with a dinner that saw Chiara Ferragni as its formal co-host. The event was held on the evening of the 29th of March, at the Museum of Immersive Art, with lots of celebrities in attendance, both local and international.

The dinner party made clear that Manokhi’s intention is to position itself as a luxury and aspirational brand, ready to take on the global market. This ambition was further crowned by Chiara Ferragni choosing the Romanian brand once more, for the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Turkey, later on this year.

Along with the dinner, Manokhi prepared lots of other activities for Ferragni and her guests. Amongst the activities, there was a guided visit of Peles Castle and yet another party held at Sass’ Restaurant Lounge, a sister location of the world-known Monaco establishment. This directly goes to show that Manokhi is in it for the long run and has made connections with the most prestigious partners in the game.

Manokhi x Vogue Italia

As we gear up our forces for the next edition of Bucharest Fashion Week, starting on the 15th of October, Manokhi once more decided to turn up the heat. After locking down Ed Westwick for the Singureni Manor Polo Cup, they came prepared for another dinner party. This time, the co-host was Westwick’s wife, Amy Jackson Westwick, and it was in collaboration with Vogue Italia. This marks a full circle moment, with the magazine being one of the first to trust the MBBFW project.

On October 11th, Manokhi hosted a dinner event in collaboration with Vogue Italia and Amy Jackson Westwick as co-host. The event’s concept and design were entrusted to K2 DesignLab, that gave the National Art Museum a minimalist, Manokhi signature look. It was a lavish celebration of Romanian heritage with multiple local brand partnering up to give the utmost special experience for 15 international guests in attendance.

This showcases the strong relationship between important fashion exponents, such as Vogue Italia and Romania’s fashion landscape. At the same time, it strengthens Manokhi’s commitment to putting both the country and the brand on the international map. The Manokhi and Vogue Italia dinner was the kick-start event for this edition of Bucharest Fashion Week, that is promising to reunite the eastern fashion panorama.
